This can be true... especially with a significant other. I've been told I'm perfect from girls I've dated in the very, very beginning of relationships...I also think the girl is perfect too! .Of course, as time goes on, you get to know the person alot better and discover some flaws here and there....It may be a pessimistic view, but I don't believe anybody's perfect. There are usually flaws as you get to know someone, but the plus's and good points most likely outweigh the flaws, thus making the person appearing even more perfect.
As for trusting strangers more than friends... that is a totally different question. A friend is somebody you already know.... and should be somebody you can trust... isn't that the definition of a friend? I always trust my friends more than a stranger, even if they aren't perfect, but very close in being so.
Just my opinion....
Just an added note... alot of people mention things about backstabbing friends and not able to tell their friends things.... if you think about it..... the so-called "friends" don't sound like they're true friends.

Hey, take off the "rose colored glasses" you are looking through.
No, I believe that no body is perfect. You don't really trust strangers, you open up to them because it doesn't matter to you what they think about your problem or situation, you just need to get something off of your chest and that stranger was there at the time. If you aren't trusting your friends then you need to find some new friends. perhaps someone more perfect.
I don't look at people's faults or shortcomings. I like and make friends with people who shine with love from the inside.
Updated: You definitely need some new friends. My friends don't do me that way.

You don't really know anybody, even if you knew them for 5 years. Everyone has faults. Sometimes we may have expectations of people and this can blind us for awhile and we are only aware when we get disappointed in them. I believe people wear mask that makes it hard to see their character but, once the mask comes off you may not like what you see. Humans can never be perfect if we where it would be a boring world no drama excitement.

No, I don't. I don't think anyone is perfect. I mean we strive to be perfect and do the best we can. But knowing someone for a long time doesnt mean they are less perfect. They are human beings. We are all human beings and not one person is lesser than the other. "Never look down on someone unless you are helping them up."

that happens to me alot as a matter of fact. i feel like i cant even trust anyone anymore since everytime i tell my best friends something they tell other people. this is why i cant "trust" anyone anymore. if i dont tell them anything then i cant get backstabbed. but yes i agree with you. people i barely talk to, i tend to tell them more things because i feel like i can trust them since i don't know "there ways". i think maybe you should let go a little, but definitely make sure you know the person well who you're telling things to so word doesnt spread.

No one is more or less perfect after we get to know them. It's just our perception of them that changes. I don't think I would trust strangers more than my friends. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know . . .

Well perfection is never there only the hope of it and that is were we are all idiots. Why do we expect people to be perfect for us when we know we are or will never be perfect in ourselves. The only thing we can do is TRY and TRY itself. We only fail when we don't TRY! So try to listen and understand.
