Despite what one may think, peace on earth will forever be impossible to achieve. While we see international conflicts as a threat to peace, it is more or less the result of one nation disagreeing with the beliefs or policies of another. If every nation had the same belief as every other nation, where would development come from? Where would individuality come from? Would you be willing to give up your rights and freedoms as an American (or whatever nation you are in) and change to whatever belief/policy system another country has, all in order to "keep the peace?".
Conflict happens on every level from viruses to global nations. It is a matter of life. Even if all nations agreed to get along, two, ten, or twenty years down the road someone will find a new cirteria for what is considered a threat to peace. An example would be if we banned guns; eventually murders would take place with another implement such as a knife, and our attention would then focus on eliminating knives.
Conflict and entropy are a part of what makes us better. While it is political and appreciative to say "I want world peace", the fact is you cannot and will never achieve it. Even if .000000001% of our population is an evil or terrorist person, that means that out of our 6,000,000,000 people, 6 are evil or willing to do evil things against his or her people. So using probability, there are many, many, many fewer evil people in this world than there statistically should be.
Back to your question, I think you should do whatever you see as fit to maintain your own little bit of world peace, but don't be naive as to think it is a fixable problem. Our leaders are chosen by us to keep us safe, and for that I am thankful. Looking at the numbers of what "could" occur, I am extremely happy.

First I think if we would pray for peace -- and go to the Lord in earnest asking for Hi to bring about peace -- then I think we would tap into the one true source of peace and love in the universe.
Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
We make the mistake of wanting others to hear our ideas and to do what we want them to do -- without being willing to alow the other person the chance to tell us how they view a situation first.
If we would -- in all our interactions with others -- seek to first understand where they are coming from first, and then they would invest their energy towards understanding your point of view -- I think that would be the most important thing to do as individuals to create peace on earth.

Simple answer: Stomp out descent wherever it may lay.
Complicated answer: Human beings can never achieve peace. As long as we have differences we will always fight. The question should not be about peace in the world, but tolerance. It will be the key to our salvation as a race. To tolerate each other will bring us together.

even if your candidate for president didn't win (for example you wanted Kerry to win but Bush did), quit bashing him. there are lots of good qualities and i am sure that the person bashing could not do as good of a job.
