Neither attending college is about preparing you for the future. It doesn't really prepare you for a specific career, most students switch major dozens of time, and when the get a certain degree they don't even pursue that career field. As far as expanding your mind most people attain that by living daily. College however should help you with time management, how to deal with Azz holes on a daily basis, how to kiss azz, anything to be financially secure.

both, expanding your mind so your wont be an ignorant adult later on. And preparing you for a specific career so you can make more than minimum wage and live above poverty level.

I'm a junior in college this fall. Both my parents have their doctors degree and i've always been taught the importance of a good education. So if your thinking about attending college, then i wish the best of luck. personally, i love college.

For the vast majority of America's idiots college is nothing more than a big party. I'm speaking of those who get degrees in Anthropology or Psychology only to find a career as a retail manager. For those types college does neither because no degree is necessary to prepare to you for a retail position. For those students pursuing degrees in science or engineering the things they learn are imperative to their future careers.

College purpose is whatever each student makes it. On average I'd speculate that more students leave with wider knowledge base than those that leave with career preparation.

Neither, it is just a way of filling your head with crap they tell you, you need to know. In truth most college students only remember 2% of what they learn once the semesters over. So they are really not preparing you for anything. I think we would be better off getting experience on the job rather than in a book. But if u are asking why you should go, i would say to experience different things and expand your mind and to get the damn piece of paper so you get that cushy job

Neither. College is about teaching you self-control and perserverance. When an employer sees that you have a degree, they know that you are a self-starter, and that you are capable of acomplishing things. Yes, college does expand your mind, and it does prepare you for a specific career, but it is more about self-discipline than anything else.

Preparing you for a specific career definitely. You can study what YOU want, create a course for yourself to prepare for a future. It's all your decision.

It should do both, but it is better for expanding your mind. If all you want is a career, learn to weld.
