Do you mean the decision to adopt you out.? I suggest you be honest with her. It may hurt her, but she's an adult, she'll be able to handle it, as long as you're not hostile or rude. It's a difficult situation for both of you, I'm sure. Be as gentle as you can about it, but you can't have a good relationship unless you're honest.

Are you adopted? Were you told at a young age that you were adopted? Have you had opportunities to discuss this previously with members of your adoptive OR birth family?

How much do you know about the circumstances of your adoption? Are you willing to listen to your birth mother as well as provide her feedback?

Questions around adoption can be very emotional and sometimes heart-wrenching. That's why opening up lines of communication and empathy can be helpful--but not necessarily easy. There may, or may not, be a readiness or ability to discuss some questions.

I'm an adoptive parent. I'm willing to listen to your concerns either within this question or through my account (the send email option is turned on).

Well, since you haven't said what decision she made, I can only say that honesty is ALWAYS the best policy. Tell her the truth and tell her why you feel the way you do. Communication is a two way street. It requires input and output. If she refuses to talk with you about it, find someone else you can talk to. Good luck.

Why have problems with it now? The decision was made long ago, and no one or nothing can undo it. It's better to move forward than to cling to issues of the past.

If she's in your life now, that's a wonderful thing...don't try to punish her for what she did long ago...she was likely a different person back then.
