My family and I are moving out of our neighborhood at the end of the month. Our neighbors have been wonderful friends during our time here, and I wanted to get them a gift to thank them for everything. Ideas can be for the whole family, or just the lady of the house. There are two sets of families, one with husband, wife and an 11 month old baby boy, and one with husband, wife, and two boys, one adolescent, one pre-adolescent. Thanks for your help!

While a framed picture of our families together would be a wonderful idea, we don't have any such pictures. And as for the thank you card, that's a given, I just thought that a nice gift would be the icing on the cake. And I know it's not very "Martha Stewart" of me, but I just don't care to make things. I don't have the time.

Why not incorporate both into one - get a babysitter for the kids, and take both couples out for a thankyou meal - that way you can keep it as a neigbourly group thing to do, and take photos of the six of you enjoying yourselves while you are out - a framed copy of the best pic for all three households will hold more meaning than any store-bought item, and you all get a night out to remember!

Well a Thank You Card with a note is the best gift because they didn't expect it. A gift is great but words from a thank you card is better not even money can beat a thank you card. Or If you feel you want to give money then give more than $10 because if you give them that little amount you might as well just give them the thank you card which will be more heart felt than a small amount of money
You have alot of great ideas!! But remember money plays a major part so if ya got tha money there no limit to what you can do for them.

I moved out of a neighborhood I'd been in for a while, and a neighbor gave ME a lovely gift - one I still have, and that was about 5 years ago. She made potpourri with bits and pieces of the neighbors' various gardens. I thought it was the most thoughtful gift! Can you do something like this, using elements from your garden, maybe combining it with hers? That would be for the lady (and man) of the house. You could also give them framed pictures of you with them as a nice reminder of your friendship, or if you're in the habit of taking pictures at any occasion, then you probably have a bunch of pictures from various encounters with them. You could put them together in a gift album. Aside from those ideas, a potted plant is always nice, because it will keep on growing and always be a reminder of your friendship. You could take special care to put a plant in a nice decorative vase that would fit in with their decor. Phew ... I'm done! :)

Flowers are always a good option, but if u want to give more why not a gift voucher at a local resturant so they call all relax and have a good time, or if that works out to be to expensive for such a large group throw a bbq or party in their honour so they know how much you care

Wow, ok am I right here? They have 2 families? My suggestion is to re-submit your question with a budget limitation. Since you didn't, here's what I'd say. Sounds like you know them pretty well. Have there been any get-togethers in the past...either in your yard or theirs? A nice photo album would be great, especially since it would link your family with theirs.
Otherwise, what do you know about them? Any pictures of some younger members of their family? Maybe find someone who does chalk drawings or an artist that can do a black and white painting?
You have a family right? Maybe a pic of your family and/or theirs? You see where I'm going here. Hope I helped.

Perhaps a bunch of tickets to a family event that all three families (yours included) could enjoy together? Spend a day out with them, on you... and say thanks in person :)
Candles are always nice for the lady of the house.

a yard ornament like a bird bath or a statue of something they like or you could pick up a gift card to the movies and send it to them when you get settled at your new place or even a basket of some of their favorite things like food or movies etc. good luck on your move

It may not be very personal but you culd always get them a gift certificate for the grocery store. It's something that they could definetly use.
