I remember when I was 14 I wanted to get a publisher for my book. I soon realized that most publishers didn't want you unless you'd been published before. I searched alot of websites, and sent alot of faxes. I didn't get any answers.

If you're really serious about finding a publisher, you might need to find an agent first. Like actors don't get many jobs without an agent, writers need agents, too. Lots of publishers won't even look at your work unless it's submitted by and agent. They have plenty of non-agent manuscripts clogging their mail. Agents also tend to know which publishers to give your book to.

There's also the option of self-publishing, but it's costly. Here's a list of agents: http://www.forwriters.com/agents.html And here's a search engine for agents by topic and location: http://www.writers.net/agents.html?PHPSESSID=275daae19bb9a3b4790a2f727162c8bb

Agents also charge a price up front, and get a cut of the money your book makes, but it's pretty worth it to have you book stand out even a little bit.

If it's short stories you want published, writers magazines are always taking submissions. They usually charge around $10 for an entry, but you don't need an agent to submit it. It also gets you published, which means you're more likely to get published again.

Good luck with getting published. I was never able to, but then, I wasn't really able to finish a book.

If you have a book, and it's worthy of publication, you will find a publisher...you just have to be persistant. Since you didn't mention what the subject matter was, it would be hard to make any specific recommendations here. Good luck...age should not be a factor, if it's good writing on a subject that interests the target market!
