When the unit starts and runs, it runs fine. R&R air and fuel filters,checked for eletrical shorts and relays overheating, all looks good. No codes are coming up either. Need help too solve problem. Thank You.

tested glow plugs-good.replaced eletric supply pump,fuel,air filters,checked charging system for low voltage,fuel tank for vapor lock,wirring for shorts,relays for heating up and for blown fuses.The problem occurs with engine cold or hot.It might start and run all day or not start but start the next day or stall at sometime while running and won't start at all for the day or it might start right back up until you shut it off. It could run hours, seconds or not at all. Thank You.

Sounds like a damn sensor. Stupid computers. Might be bad fuel but more likely a cam sensor or something. Hope it doesn't cost too much. Good luck.

you dont have hardly any sensors on that thing,,its a diesel,,one thing that might be going on with it, is the fuel pump may be going out,,this is how they start going out,,and it wont give a code either,,because the pressure isnt monitored on these,,id try and check it,,i bet you,ll find it is going bad,,i own a repair shop and we do a lot of diesel engines,,and the most that i have seen with the chevys is the pumps,,hope this help,s

It sounds like you have some bad glow plugs, or clogged injectors. Check in repair manual for resistance for glow plugs or ask your local parts store. Just unplug them check one at a time it is pretty easy to do. If you take a long screw driver and place it on each injector the put your ear to it you hear it working properly, it should be clicking fast and steady. if you hear one sputtering you know you have the right one, clean or replace.

first port of call could be to envision the connections. make confident each of the connections: battery leads, solenoid, earth connections and connection to the starter itself are reliable. If that does no longer artwork that's likely the starter motor itself. Have the starter examined with the help of an vehicle electrician. HTH R
