Not all blonds are assumed to be stupid. If you are blond, and this is happening to you, you can try taking a few English lessons about the proper use of contractions. If you only write "your" when you actually mean "you're" or "you are" in emails and internet postings, then you do not even need the English lessons. It is entirely up to you to correct anyone who thinks you are stupid just because you are blond. If you are intelligent, simply begin acting, talking, and writing intelligently, and any accusers will soon change their opinion of you.

Marilyn Monroe was known as a Platinum Blonde and she was thought to be beautiful, but flaky. However, it goes way before her time.

If you look through history, it's been said in an article that during caveman times that blonde hair was a unique feature. Same goes for blue or green eyes. When it came to judging by looks, those unique traits made them snag mates more easily.

If you fast forward over 20,000 years where dark-haired people with brown eyes are considered common place, natural evolution would be where blondes wouldn't have to work as hard while dark-haired people would have to resort to cunning and intelligence to obtain a mate.

If you look at northern Europe in Sweden and Norway, a lot of blondes are considered to be very beautiful. Beautiful people don't have to work hard in getting people's attention because their looks are already disarming.

We all know that attractive women get more attention from guys that plain-looking women. They get car doors opened for them, guys will linger on their every word, and they'll be given special attention.

Any time a person is given special attention, they get pampered. When they get pampered, they don't have to work as hard for things. That especially includes thinking.

Other people think for you. For example, if a person is an attractive female and you don't know how to work a copy machine, she can flash a smile or give a helpless damsel in distress look and someone will come rescue her.

If you're a "plain" person or a guy and you have problems with the copy machine, you either have to figure it out yourself or hunt someone down to help you who may not be as interested vs. if you were a beautiful blonde female.

This is where you get people the ones who have to work hard or who don't get special treatment relying more on intelligence and wit than attractive people. Since blondes are considered beautiful, there's a high probability that they don't have to do as much to get attention or the help they need.

When you canvas this over a population of 7 billion people on the Planet, that's how you can get the perception that Blondes are flaky or dumb. Technically, they could be perceive that way, it's really more of a societal influence because that society places emphasis on the physical attributes of a person with blonde hair of having more value.

Any time something has perceived value, the better care a person will take of that person or thing. For objects (and people) that don't seem to have any value or use, they get mistreated.

It might have had a lot to do with Marilyn Monroe...she was the epitome of the blonde and ditzy type. Men have always loved a dumb woman...possibly because they submit so easily to thier every whim.

I remember reading a long time ago that men preferred blondes to "screw around with" to put it bluntly, but brunettes (considered to be the smart ones) to settle down with. Charming no?

Since most women today seem to prefer to bleach themselves blonde, wax themselves naked, and starve themselves into anorexia, in order to fit into what society (men?) find attractive and desireable (funny how voluptuous women were "IN" right up to about the 70s) I have to agree, that most "blondes" must be dumb because they continue to feed into what the fashion trends and marketing media lead them into, (it's only a multi billion dollar industry) and are happy to feed into the consumerism and do stupid things detrimental to themselves and other women as a species and gender.

So if you really are a smart blonde, then just stand upright and ignore the stupid innuendos people make...and don't go around giving into all the trends and others' expectations that will give the impression you are a "dumb blonde".

Girls can be really attractive without bursting out of their clothes to show off their assets.

And by the way, my daughter is blonde. I don't let her dress or act in that fashion and no one has ever called her dumb. In fact she is quite lovely and very intelligent, so multi-talented and a little intimidating.

"Dumb Blondes" are just people who allow themselves to be led. Be a leader not a follower.

To speak frankly (and as a blonde) others don't assume we're dumb ... they are just jealous ... and are doing their best to make up for what they lack. After all, blondes -- in general -- tend to be more attractive.

But to add one blonde joke:

A blonde wo/man (lets not be a male chauvinist) walked into a shoe store and asked for a pair of alligator shoes ... but the salesman told her/him that alligator shoes had become so expensive that his store no longer offered them.

Later that day, on his way home, the salesman crossed a bridge and noticed the blonde on the bank below. S/he was surrounded by countless alligator carcases.

The salesman brought his car to a screeching halt and then shouted "What are you doing?" The blonde replied, "I've shot 50 alligators and not one of them was wearing a pair of alligator shoes!"

I really am a blonde ... but if one can never poke fun at him/herself ... life it too serious.

its a stereo type. but also....Blondes are known to be "sexier"...more fun....and more powerful. Its all silly. just be you. Don't be concerned about what shallow people asume. Don't feel like you have to prove yourself. And if you do say something "foot in the mouth worthy" and someone comments on your hair, just respond by saying..."And you've never been wrong before?" Also...When I changed my hair from blonde to red/brown people reacted to me differently..I even had one person say..."Wow, I can't look at you and not take you seriously now." stupid huh?
