You may just need to reinstall it. If you are using an older version of Windows, you can uninstall then reinstall through Add/Remove Programs. If you are using XP, you have to do it through Add/Remove Windows Components, and you'll need your Operating System disks in order to reinstall.

You could be having one of a hundred other problems, and it's hard to go through them all here. But: Do you have anti-virus and a firewall? If yes, do you update the anti-virus regularly? If so, great. If you don't have anti-virus, or if you have it and don't update it regularly, you need to protect your system and do a full system scan for viruses. On the off chance that you have no anti-virus, you can get it for free here: http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

Do you have anti-malware and update it regularly? If no to the former, get it free here: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/. If no to the latter, update. And either way, do a full system scan.

You may not be able to get into Yahoo mail because Yahoo is having service interruptions due to their renovations. Be patient; you'll be back in in no time.

Obviously you're able to get on the Internet, so something is working.

Add more details if none of this stuff helps, and I'll try to be of use some other way.

Ditch Internet Explorer - IE's big, slow, insecure, and very out of date. Regardless of the version number.

Firefox is sleek, fast, more secure, up to date, customizable, blocks pop-ups... so much better. And with one small add-on you'll never see a banner ad again.

The list of extensions (add-ons) is incredible, and there's lots of cool looking themes.
