I didn't see the first one. Should I go see the second one or go through the unmitigated trouble of watching the first one on my dvd (I have it somewhere) before I go watch the second episode?

ehh...YEAH, def. watch the first one....there are a lot of jokes that are caried on in the 2nd one from the 1st one that aren't as funny if you haven't seen the 1st one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and there are a few people that you'd only know about by watching the first one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

Look... i saw the first one a long time ago, then saw the 2. After that, i saw the first one "again", and I understood lot of things. Not big things, but for example, you will answer yourself:
- why is the monkey inmortal?
You will also understand the story about the "P" on Jack´s arm, and some jokes will be funnier, as you know where they come from. For example, as Jack sees Elizabeth in the second one, he says "Hide the rum" or something like that. That´s because she sets it on fire in the first one...
By the way, I don´t speak english, so forgive me if there is any mistake, hehe

You probably COULD, but I wouldn't recommend it. There are tons of references to the first movie. I"m sure you could enjoy the 2nd without the 1st, but you would only understand part of the story. You would not get the whole effect. There are vague references to what happened in 1, but not quite enough for you to get the whole picture. Also keep in mind that if you see 2.... you will HAVE to see 3. It's not up for debate =)
I liked both of them. So I think it would be worth the trouble to watch the 1st, then go see the 2nd, and anticipate the 3rd ;)

You have to go watch the first one. In the second on there are little jokes and references to the first movie. You will not completey understand the second one unless you see the first one. Trust me I have seen both. I know people who have seen the second and not the not the first. They regret watching it now.

See Curse of the Black Pearl before Dead Man's Chest. There's some backstory on Jack that you may not understand if you go into the second movie blind. Then get ready for the final installment next year!!!!

You can see them either way. The first one sets things up with Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner & Elizabeth Swann. The second movie takes you on a journey about Davy Jones' chest & its contents.

i highly recommend you watch the first one because you can become lost. Both movies are great so enjoy

i can almost asure u that if u go see it without it without seeing the first you'll be lost,and you'll hate it...so just rent the first 1 it's better then the first.
