I'm not that technilogically savvy, but I'd love an MP3 player. Everyone and their mother has an I-Pod, but i'm not about to fork over $300 bucks for one. Should I get a shuffle? Or is there a less expensive alternative? I don't need to download videos or hundreds of songs...

You would best try the iPod Nano. It's the 'light iPod' for those who don't need videos or hundreds of songs. The Shuffle would be cheapest, sure, if you don't mind not having control over your music/not being able to see the songs. Nano on the other hand has a decent colour display. I've had an iPod for over a year and it's never broken - it still works superbly... I won't buy another brand not because I'm into the whole iPod hype - I'm just highly satisfied with it. Also, I don't hate something 'just' because it's 'trendy' at the moment.

ohh no dont get a shuffle..those TOTALLY suck!! you cant choose which song you want to hear and you have no control over what song comes next. i suggest you get an i-pod nano its down to about $200. there is a less expensive alternate and thats getting a phone with an mp3 player. (thats what i was gonna do) you can try a sidekick3 *its mp3 can hold up to more than 500 songs, plus it has a camera and other cool stuff in it. but it costs $300... or you can try the razor.

No,,, There are a lot of other options rather than spend 300 bucks for an I POD... Some MP3 players may not be as good looking like the pod but the memory, audio features etc. are far better than the apple counterpart..

I have an ipod and I love it! if your not computer savvy it's the best way to go because they are simple to use. my husband has a different one and his is confusing to me. About the music you can always download from any source and burn a CD then you can put it on your ipod. I know it sound like a lot but if your not willing to pay for music that's the way to go. the shuffle not so good. The nano works great. or even the original ipod, I'm not sure that they make them anymore but you can always check.

There are several mp3 players on the market. The reason the iPod is the leader is that it has “the complete solution” which is the device to listen to your music and the software to manage your music library.

I would recommend the iPod nano; you will have more storage space for your music and a display to see what is playing. iTunes helps you transfer your music to your mp3 player and manage it on your computer. It is a great way for you to enter the mp3 portable device world. As your taste or requirements for your device changes, then try some of the other devices.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DONT get an iPod, they are ****, when i saved three hundred dollars i bought an iPod 20GB video and it was very dissapointing, i returned it and got this http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zenvisionm/ best choice i ever made, iPods become vegetables after about a year, a zen will last forever. iPods dont play WMAs while the zen does, WMAs take half as much memory as MP3s. so yes the zen holds twice as much as an iPod, plus it comes with more memory for less money, its alot more then twice as much. plus creative doesn't force you to use itunes. you can just open the "my computer" window and drag and drop any file you want and the zen will play it flawlessly. when i had an iPod, there was always something wrong with it, and plus the customer service ignores you when you call. the creative customer service is great, not that i've ever had to call for this product. customer service from apple just constantly tells you to buy more and more programs by quicktime, it never ends and you just fork over more and mroe money. for a product you will have to replace in a few months. apple sucks, get a creative. this might be what you need if you dont want to play videos or have alot of songs. http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/zenv/

u can get the shuffle off of ebay for less than 100 dollars. so i mean u might as well get the shuffle for starters. it usually serves the purpose. if u want to step up a bit get a ipod nano. which is still far less that 300 dollars.

iPod's are the best! I have one and i absolutely love it! I wouldn't get a shuffle though, because they aren't as good. You can't see what you're playing, and you can't choose what you play. I would say just fork over the 300 dollars. They are worth it, and they last a long time. And iTunes is awesome.

STOP!!!! Dont get a shuffle no matter what. It easily breaks and you cant decide which song to play. Also, it has a low memory. I would suggest going to circuit city and buying a sandisk mp3.

512mb = 120 songs
1gb = 240 songs
