s it okay to use aspen shavings instead of ferret or cat litter for my ferret?

What type of litter would be best for my ferret, other than the regular ferret litter? Can I use Fresh Step cat litter?

I've used Feline Pine and have also used Fresh Step once or twice when I was out of ferret litter (dont recommend it tho) . You can also use Yesterdays News litter.

I use Yesterday's News litter for cats...It works real well and is half the price of ferret litter...plus it doesnt have the dust like other cat litter so it isnt harmful to your ferrets lungs

Cat litter is too dusty for ferrets and is not good for their delicate respiratory system. Also, clumping litter is dangerous if they eat it and you don't want it getting on their nose.
The best and most inexpensive litter for ferrets is woodstove pellets. I can get a 40 lb bag for about $5. If you can't get them, they Yesterdays News is an excellent choice as well but a bit more costly.

DONT USE CAT LITTER OR ASPEN BEDDING!!! they can both lead to respiretory infection and death. Use Yesterday's News brand litter for the litter box and dont put litter down on the rest of the cage. If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me at [e-mail] any time.

We have a pet store in Sullivan Mo and we have found that any cat litter is fine for them. It does not have any ill affects for ferrets and works just fine.

You can use plain unscented clay litter. NEVER clumping litter...it could lead to intestinal impaction. You can also use yesterdays news, carefresh, corncob litter. I wouldn't use would shavings at all. Not safe if the ferret swallow them.

Aspen bedding is good & yes u can use cat litter too!!!
