Occcationally when I am walking, I get this pain in my legs. Normally the pain is in my knee area. It is a dull pain and it doesn't hurt when you touch the area, only when I move. What could be the cause? BTW it can't be something like artiritis because I am a preteen.

It isn't regular growing pains because it only occurs when I am walking and it is right on my knee, in the joint area.

YES it can be arthritis. Arthritis can happen to anyone. See your pediatrician with your mom or dad & suggest an exam by an orthopedist. Your pediatrician can recommend an x-ray to see if you've torn ligaments, tendons or have any other damage.

You did not say if you are overweight. If you are it could be stress on the knee itself. Is pain worse at times like going up or down stairs, early in morning, after sitting for some time. Yes, children even young toddlers can have arthritis it has many forms...Nita RN

It could be a "trigger point" in the muscles surrounding the knee and this will cause dull achy pain . the 'trigger points are muscle fibers that are unable to relax and form like little tight sore spots--some will be sensitive to touch and others will refer the pain to other areas --maybe the trigger point is in your calf or thigh area- a good massage therapist--trained in trigger points might be able to help you AND ANYONE ,ANY-AGE ARE SUSCEPTIBLE to them good luck
