I'm military and usually run outside, not much time in the gym. When I'm using the machines, others eye me. What's up with that? Most of these guys are straight and I'm not built (I'm a runner). I don't have a third arm or anything wrong. What am I missing here?

I go to a gym three times a week and it also happens. When I`m using the machines some guys eye me. What I do it`s to ignore this...I think you should try to concentrate on your purpose of why are you going o gym and forget about "others watching you" But don`t feel odd, it happens and often even when you got to take a shower in the restroom that some eye you. My advice is that you should focus on your purpose your goal, what you wanna achieve maybe a better fit body or what you want and forget about viewers. Good luck man!!

While you might call yourself a "runner", you are NOT skinny. You are also good-looking -- but you knew that, lol.

Men -- gay, bi, or straight -- look to other men for clues on what to DO to achieve success -- how to look, what to wear, and how to act. That applies to jobs, society, and the gym -- pretty much anywhere guys hang out, they are watching and learning. The fact is that lots of gym-goers are pretty insecure about the whole experience and feel they are being stared at. I remind my clients that most people are too busy thinking about work or checking themselves out to be staring at everyone.

Or, maybe you make girly noises when you lift, lol. Maybe you have really bad lifting form -- or really good? Maybe you don't lift much -- but it's not a competition -- lift what you can lift safely...

More likely though, since you classify yourself as a runner, you are pretty ripped -- and that's what they are seeing. I'm not a huge build either, but constantly get attention for being lean, since reallly, no matter how big the big boys get, a lot of them are carrying about 15-40 lbs. of fat, and would trade some size for some tight cuts.

Either way, as the saying goes -- Attention is better than the alternative : NO attention.
