I average between 30 and 50 hits a day on my site for the past two or three weeks but still I have no sales should I try and dramaticly increase my hits or find something else to sell

Typical conversion ratios on commercial web site (those that sell something) range from 0.05% to 7% (2004 data).

Based on this, you may need 2000 or more visitors to make your first sale.

50 visitors per day x 21 days (3 weeks) = 1050 visitors So, maybe you are getting close to your first sale.

My advice:
Start tracking your visitors' paths through your site. See how long they stay on specific pages, where you are loosing them, what pages are working for you, where they are coming from, and more.

Getting to know your visitors is not everything you need to do, but it is a good start.

We do not know what you sell..Maybe you are charging way too much.
