Hi, The best way to learn for me was to get a video and pause it every step until I could understand just what exactly they were trying to do ;o) Also, your PBS channel sometimes runs "How To" shows on the weekends. Chek your TV listings and get ready to tape it when it comes on. Honestly, I thought knitting would be complicated but it's actually so simple I think my mind was the complication, lol!
Happy Knitting!

nearly all fabric and craft stores that sell yarn have knitting classes. Perhaps this is something that the two of you can learn together. It's fun, it would be something you could talk about and take time to shop together and you'd end up with christmas gifts and things that you both feel good about in the end.

There are a couple of cute little packages that you can buy from Target that will teach you to knit something specific and also it has the yarn and the needles. That's a good way to start.

Go to a Crafts Store like Michael's. They have special kits for kids to teach knitting and crochet.

Beside the point if you do or not.. Get the kid some knitting lessons. Try the local community college or county recreation department.

There are books that are real simple to understand. Buy the book some knitting needles and about two colors of yarn. If she decides she likes it buy more.

It's a part of a woman's DNA so there is definitely something wrong with you. Just kidding I can't knit, I can kind of crochet but I won't do it in front of my mother because she laughs at my technique. And all I can make are dishcloths.

Some people do well with written instructions and illustrations, and others learn better by watching someone else.
This web site has free videos and is an excellent resource for learning how to knit.
