Verizon is the best service out there, I get service EVERYWHERE. the city, hamptons, upstate, everywhere. plus that new Chocolate phone is pretty ill.
and maybe this is just me but Nextels are really annoying, I hate when people use them. I dotn want to hear their entire conversation or that damn beeping noise. Plus their ugly unless you tackily dress it up in lights.. ugh ew.

nextel is awful verizon isn't much better but I guess I'd have to choose them

verizon is way better they have better phones and service and nextel is ok but it drops calls to much

If you're asking which is better...go for Verizon. it rarely has dead zones, and if most of your friends use it, mobile to mobile calls on the verizon network are free.

trick to getting a good phone, if you want better signal go for a phone with less stuff in it, ie camera, TV etc... takes up time/room to get that stuff on the phone therefore less on the signal stuff
