My air conditioner is leaking water through the air filter

Your air conditioner isn't "leaking" water.
That's condensation accumulating on the coils.

Look for a pipe or hose leading to the nearest drain. Most likely it's clogged from a small amount of dust or dirt.

If you can't remedy the situation quickly, call in a heating/cooling service company as soon as possible.

Water forms on the cooling coil. The water should be drained away from a condensate pan under the coil. The drain line or the pan is clogged causing water to back up and come through the filter.

Or, the coil it self is clogged up and instead of draining the condensation is running back through the filter. Remove the filter and look.

tilt the air conditioner backwards to let the water run out the back side of the unit.

it is slanted the wrong way and or a drain pathway is cloged
