Yes, my sister! I think she gets up every morning, has a cup of coffee with a 1/4 cup of alum added. Not only does this keep a perpetual pucker on her face, but seems to create a bizarre brain transformation in which her humor goes somewhere else.

Actually, she's a "business woman on the go" and (yes, this is a quote from her) "I don't have time for humor!"

Yes, but more than likely the humor that is being attempted may not be humorous at all. Or, the humor is so subtle, that it is difficult for some people to understand. I worked with a guy once who had a very dry sense of humor. Whenever he was joking around, he said things in a very serious manner. While I "got it" a lot of people didn't and I finally had to tell him that when he was joking around, he needed to actually tell people, "I'm just kidding!" because they thought he was being serious.

Some people are born without the ability to recognize that some things people say are not literal. They lack the ability to comprehend figurative speech until they are quite old if at all.
Some don't see the point in being anything but direct and serious and only accept facts. you may be just a waste of their time.
They have no control over it.

lol, i don't know, but there is actually a rare condition that some people are born with where they are not able to understand or detect sarcasm. part of the brain is just missing i think.
