Gynecologist (women's private parts doctor) and Obstetrician (baby doctor). All doctors cost a lot of money. They look up your hole and check for normal operation. You might want to wait until your period is done.

An OB/GYN is a doctor that treats female health issues and pregnancy.
Some doctors are just gynecologists that deal with health issues, and some are obstetricians who deal with pregnancy and delivery.
A 12 year old girl could see an OB/GYN. I saw one for the first time when I was 11, due to VERY bad cramps.
Unfortunately they do cost money. If you need to see someone and you/your parents can't pay for one or you do not want your parents to know you are going to a doctor you can contact Planned Parenthood for help.
Good luck and good health!

Gynecologist- is a doctor that specializes in the female anatomy and female problems, such as periods, pregnancy, std's...ect. Yes, a 12 year old could go to one of these doctors to get help. Yes, it costs money, but, not if this 12 year old went to the Health department, or a local Planned Parenthood in her area...ps..parents Don't have to be notified in most states (even though you should be directing these questions to one)
OB- Obstetrician- is a doctor that specializes in pregnancy and childbirth.

Obstetrics- Women go to if pregnant or have a new baby. Gynecology-Women go to for a yearly check up and other things. Since your 12 you really don't need to go right now. Unless you are sexually active, then you need to start going yearly after you become active. You can't get a pap test done when you’re on your period. If you have really bad cramps to where you can't function on normal pain medication then you can go to ask about birth control and they can test for things like ovarian cysts and other disorders. I only pay $15 for my office visits but if I didn't have health insurance it would cost me $145. If you don't have health insurance there are local places that you can go to for little or no cost. Get a phone book and look it up. They should also give you birth control for free or no more than $5. You should go with your mother or a female guardian because they have paperwork for you to fill out that you may not have the information to be able to do that and you’re not a legal adult yet. If your worried just because you just stared your period it's not a really big deal to where you need to go see one. The only reason I'd say you need to go see one is if your family has a history of ovarian cysts or other things like your mother has an STD and may have passed it on to you during birth. When you do become sexually active PLEASE use a condom, even if you are on birth control! Use a dental dam to help prevent the spread of STD’s.

First of all, its OB/GYN. GYN stands for gynecologist and the OB stands for Obstetrition. Yes it costs money, it's a doctor for the anatomical female "region" below the waist opposed to above.

GYN stands for gynecologist. And OB stands for obstetrician. Gyn is a doctor for women. And an Ob is a doctor for pregant women. Yes, if you have your period, you should see one. He/she can give you information on what your body is doing and what to expect. Talk to your mom or female adult about it.

An Gyn is an abbreviation for Gynecologist and OB is an abbreviation for obstetrician, yes most charge for their serves but they do have free clinics as well, you should check in your area. And any women can see one at anytime, usually you should have your parent or guardian take you, I am sure if you need to see one they will take you.

GYN= Gynecologist
OB- Obstetrician.
A gynecologist deals with women's health issues, an obstetrician deals with pregnancy. A lot of these dr's are both so you will see them as OB/GYN.
Why do you think you need to see one?

It is OB/GYN which stands for Obstetrician / Gynecology. Yes, you can see one at 12 even on your period. As for money, it depends on the insurance your parents have or if they have any at all. It also depends on the doc you see, each charges their own rate.

A gynocologist handles things like your menstrual periods and such. An Ob or obstetrician handles things like pregnancy. Alot of doctors out there do both. Yes they do cost but usually your parents have insurance that helps pay for that. And yes you can see one.
