Like with an engineered pregnancy? Or even a faked pregnancy? How common is that? Do you think its OK, or does it make a bad marriage inevitable?

Women do things like this but it is never a good idea. A marriage should be well thought out, not forced.

Unfortunately that sort of things happens all the time. In addition to the fake pregnancy scam, some women and men will pretend to love the other person long enough to get married. Once that happens, they feel they no longer have to put up the facade and things get miserable rather quickly. That's why so many people claim their spouse "changed" and is no longer the person they married. There is no fool proof way to be 100% sure that the person who you intend to marry is being honest with you about everything, including why they want to marry you. Welcome to the wonderful world of love. Best advice, is to go with your heart and don't ignore that little voice in the back of your head, it's usually right! :)

Some immature girls try this old trick. There isn't much future in a marriage based on trickery and lies, so they tend to divorce or at least have a dysfunctional marriage.

Mature women know that they need to be loved for themselves and would not stoop that low to get married. They know that a marriage must be based on honesty and truth in order to survive.

It is NEVER OK to trick someone into marriage. It is hard enough to stay together when both people work at it. Trying to stay together when you know you were lied to would be almost impossible.

Oh, it happens, and never to a good end. Even though the other spouse falls for it, they do always suspect it, and are leery. The marriage will never work, and unfortunatley if kids are brought in the picture they suffer too.
If you can't get someone on your own accord then don't ever trick them into a relationship, it will never work.
There is always that underlying doubt, which will eventually eat away at what little relationship that was there, if any was to begin with.

Yes, yes and yes! And oddly enough it can work the other way around (men "trapping" women that way). It is a desperate attempt from a lonely and/or insecure person to feel secure by having a spouse. Nothing good can come from a relationship or marriage built on lies or tricks.

It occured more in the past than nowadays, because now it's more acceptable for a couple to not marry when the woman is pregnant, than it used to be.

Of course it's not okay...why would you even ask if lying and/or 'entrapment' was okay? Would you want it done to you?

And yea, it pretty much negates any chances of a happy or successful relationship...something built on manipulation, lies, or obligation isn't going to stand the test of time...will just birth resentment, vindictiveness, retaliation, and a terribly unfair life for whatever child might be born into such foolishness...

It takes two people to make or prevent a pregnancy! Someone can not fake being pregnant for very long. If these two things factor into a relationship the relationship is not worth having.

Not everyone falls into this trap that you have fell into As Judge Mablean from Divorce Court says:"Look Deep Before You Leap" You should always become friends before lovers and you will find out everything you need to know about that person. If you decide to take it to the next level then you already know what you are getting yourself into. By being friends first you will always see their true colors..... Sorry you are so miserable

Some feel if they become pregnant this is a way of holding onto their boyfriends and move to a possible marriage. This isn't the way to do it and it can lead to much resentment in the relationship to destroy it. I do not think this is ok, in fact I feel it is very much wrong and it destroys lives as well. Maybe not all lives but for the majority, yes.

Yea, I know some women who did that! They're psychos with too low self-esteem!
Of course it's not okay to trap guys in marriage that way & I bet you more often than not that women who do this end up having a horrible marriage.
