How can I resize my 8.2 megapixel photos down to web-size (large pictures?)?

Question

I have tried all my software programs, but I can't find a place to do this. I know it is possible because I did it somewhere when I posted the smaller photos on my dad's Mayo Clinic CarePages site. Wherever I was then, I just right-clicked on the photos, and chose to save them as the smaller sized photos. I could easily add them to the site at that time.

Thanks for thinking about this ... I am so stumped.

Some of the programs I have to work with on my computer are: Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe ImageReady CS2, Adobe Illustrator 7, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Picture It, Digital Photo Pro, Photo Application, Shutterfly Studio, Corel 10, and Windows Media.

I have tried researching "Resize" in these, but have had no luck.

My digital is a Canon EOS 20D. I wish this downloading business was a bit easier.

Which software programs do you have? I can give you specific directions for doing this in some programs...but I'll need to know which ones. Add more details, and I'll check back.

Crud. I guess that I can't help you, since I use totally different imaging programs. I know that in Hewlett Packard photo software (which is of no use to you whatsoever), there is a way to resize based on pixels. And I also have Paint Shop Pro, which has resizing options for photos (again, useless to you).

I'm sorry that I led you to believe I could be of use and then turned out to be no help at all. I hope that somebody else here has given you an idea that will work.

One thing I can recommend, if you haven't already thought of it--but it's for future photos, not the ones you have today: You can reset the settings on your camera so your images aren't so gigantic.

Pretty much any image manipulating software has image resizing capabilities. If you want to resize images, I suggest using The GIMP. Easy to use, and completely free. It works just like Photoshop, can do everything Photoshop can do, but it's completely free.

Or, you can upload the images to ImageShack, which has an automatic resizing feature.

Go to paint. Select the rectangle tool, drag it over your picture. Click on the corner of the picture, and drag it to a smaller size. save it and use this for ur webpages.

Select your picture and check "rezie image"
Resize it tto the appropiate size and click upload.
The link you get for direct address should be used.

You can use Picture Resize Genius to resize your pictures.

Besides, Picture Resize Genius can add a text overlay (watermark), rename file and keep all metadata information (for example: EXIF,Tiff Tags) and creating datetime for your pictures.

Go to google and search "Windows Powertoys". On thier page, they have a Image Resizer. After installation all you have to do is right click it and BAMO! smaller filesize.

Get a software like picasa - it is free from google and awesome. it lets you arrange your photos and you can email from within the app.. The app automatically makes it smaller when you want to post on the web or email..

easiest way is to use ms paint first backup your image by creating a copy (just incase you make a mistake you have a backup) right click on the file and choose "Edit" then click image -> attributes -> stretch / skew -> then set horizontal and vertical to lower % like say 20% or 50% then save your image
