Godparents have no rights, only responsibilities.
It is considered an honor to be chosen as a Godparent.
You responsibility is to help the parents raise the children in their faith, and to accept it as your responsibility if anything happens to the parents.
You can stay in touch with the child - visits, cards for special occasions, maybe small gifts for some occasions - and live your life as an example of what your faith expects from everyone.

Are you not Catholic? Did you forget? Did you never learn? You are to help in the process of your godchild in becoming the best person they can be...to remind them of the importance of growing up christian...and when life's troubles come and they can't go to their parents you let them know that they can come to you...you also have to do your best to be the best you can be as an example to your godchild...it is a lifetime commitment..,its not about gifts its not about money it is about morals and values. It takes a village and you are honored to be apart of your godchild's village...the most important...the spiritural part
