Start simply by walking on a regular basis. Walking will help with your strength and endurance during labor. If you can find a pre-natal yoga class in your area, that would be helpful also. The yoga will not only give you strength and endurance, but also the slow meditative aspect of yoga will help you get through the rough periods of discomfort, physically, and mentally.
Just balance that out with good nutrition and you've got it together! Also, always to remember to listen to your body. Your body will tell you when you've done too much.

No two pregnancies are alike. The best thing for you to do is talk to your obstetrician. Walking is generally a good form of exercise...however, prolongued walking/standing can cause some women to have pre term labor/complications. It all depends on how the pregnancy has progressed thus far. If it has been uneventful the only restriction you may have is a weight limit as to how much you can lift. If there have been complications then the doctor will be able to give you exact specifications as to what you can and cannot do. Best thing would be for you to clear any exercise plan with your doctor before starting it.

My two favorites are walking and swimming. Walking is very low impact and you can do it anywhere, especially at the mall and right into the Motherhood store. LOL
Swimming has the added benefit of making you feel weightless for a while - love that! And it is easy on the pregnant body.
Other exercises that are great to do are those which specifically prepare you for labor. These are:
1. Squats
2. Leg stretches
3. Kegels
4. Back curls
5. Gentle crunches for the abs (the stronger your abs are, the less burden will be on your back)
Have a happy pregnancy!
