none of them are 100%. McAfee stinks - Norton doesn't do spyware - Panda logs spyware but won't delete it. I run Panda software on line active scan (free) and downloaded software (49.95), AOL's own virus version, Spybot search & destroy (free), and an online free scan from Trend Micro. I'm in the computer support industry and the only version we really recommend is Sophos - but that is business version only. Home users need to be careful and run several things

I used Panda Anti-Virus before I got my new computer. I was extremely satisfied with it. My old computer's hard drive crashed when I had to change anti-virus from Panda to Norton, which is cheaper. Not long after I installed the Norton, I think within a week, my computer completely crashed. I've got McAfee now and I'm still not as satisfied with it as I was the Panda but McAfee came with this one so I'll wait til the subscription runs out to change. Hope this helped.
If you want free anti virus, a friend of mine said AVG is pretty good.

My choice for AV/AS package. In order of preference.
1. Bit Defender.
2. PC-CILLIN
3. AVG -- FREE
4. AVAST -- FREE
5. CLAMAV -- FREE but quite crappy. No heuristics
So far I'm using 1. It is good. Detected all virus so far. Also does not slow down my system.
Symantec had failed me too many times. Slows down the system and messes things up. Also bloody expensive to renew yearly. If budget is a problem try the AVG or AVAST. Some are good but no heuristics -- i.e. brand new virus can only be detected if you do an update. Without an update, it is not INTELLIGENT enough to help. Symantec has heuristics as well, but I do not feel that the engine is good.

Hi, perhaps Norton and Mcafee is very good. but you need to pay for the software.
i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar, which can disable the virus, becasue the virus can only run on IE.
firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spyware, adware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.
download firefox for free:

Id say Norton Antivirus. It comes with a thing so if a virus completely meeses up ur computer, u can always restore it back without using complicated things such as ms-dos. But if your not very good with ur pc, also try mcafee. easier to use, but not as good
