assuming many of them actually do see spirits and hear voices (presumably of dead loved ones)

I think it's all nonsense. Most of it is parlor tricks, asking lots of consecutive questions to get you to tell them stuff, stupid sh1t like that. I beleive in the possability but rarely is it true. One would think, if there truely were a medium or psychic with genuine insight, that person would be famous as was Edger Casey was. His association is right here in Virginia Beach, nice little place, you can study his readings and stuff like that.

I lean towards believing that most are not for real; however, when it comes to having instincts and sensing things and getting feelings etc. people have abilities on a continuum from seeming unable to have any instincts/abilities at all to being so instinctive and perceiving that they seem to at least border on psychic. These are just the "regular" degrees of instincts and perceptions and gut feelings.

There is the possibility that some rarer people are at an even farther place on the spectrum. Where, when or whether it crosses over from uncanny ability and instinct to ESP-type ability I don't know.

I don't think you can be 100% sure psychics don't exist, but I think there are many, many fakes. I, personally, don't believe the ones that put people in touch with dead loved ones on demand. There's something about that one that just doesn't sit right, but that's me.....

Strangely enough, my mom died a year and a half ago but today something happened. Dad said he saw someone walking away from the door but there was no one there. He also said he heard someone call him. Asked if he was sure he was awake and he said, in the kitchen, came from the hallway over there. I said be quiet a minute, I think I remember something like this. Yes, when I first got to the house and picked up the recycle box, I heard someone yell Harold, I looked around and no one was out in the neighborhood. He said "that is what i heard". We haven't ever had this happen before. But I and my daughter see, or dream in her case, things that will happen to others. We don't tell them because we don't think that is why God shows us that sort of thing. Its like an "extra" to another gift we have...understanding babies. It is not a pleasant extra but considering the balance of things it is far more a blessing than otherwise. Just to jinx my feeling that I have today, I will say, I am afraid it means, she (mom) is calling Daddy or that my son should not have gone out tonight. I tried to stop him. That said, maybe nothing will happen.
That is just a feeling I get when someone is going to die. The other is a blast out of nowhere that someone, even a meger aquaintance will get cancer or something else bad. I say nothing for two reasons. I will look crazy when it does not happen, which it won't when I say something about it . second I don't think it is God's will for me to do that, just to pray for them. Most mediums that like advertise are just money grubbers, others are genuine, but I don't believe I have ever read in the Bible that it is OK for us to use it at all.
Just the opposite. We see it as a curse because it is supernatural.
