What you need is something that plugs into the wall that gets rid of the bugs from within. Here is an example. They're sold in many stores, you just have to look or ask around. They work, and they're really safe.

Locate the best population of roaches. Usually near a water-heater or under the sink. Place a bunch of those rat or mouse sticky boards all around the area of habitation and place a dab of peanut butter in the center of the board. Every other day go back and replace any boards that are full of roaches and re-load the PB in the center. In a couple of weeks you should have them obliterated. But keep some boards in the area just in case.

Boric acid is best sprinkled along the washboards of the wall where the roaches run. This gets into their breathing area which is under their belly and you will find them dead in their tracks just like they're frozen.

If the roaches are coming from an outside source, i.e. another apartment then you may have to keep up the process for a long time as you are exterminating them as they enter your apartment.

Spraying roaches just spreads them around. They seek new places to hide and then the problem gets worse. Stop spraying!

Good luck.

Hi!

I personally would call an exterminator to come out and spray for the infestation. But if you do not want to use chemicals, you can try some natural ways.

I hear that Roaches supposedly do not like Bay Leaves and Eucalyptus. I think it has to do with the smell/oil that comes off these plants. So get some dry Bay Leaves from your grocery store and place them through out all your cabinets. Buy some Eucalyptus and place them in vases. Put a vase in each room. Also throw some Eucalyptus leaves under your sinks and in your basement/attic. You can usually find Eucalyptus at any craft store.

I found this on a website...
"Roaches apparently don't take to bay leaves very well. I don't know why, but it really bothers them. You can tear the leaves up and put them along the walls and line the inside of your cabinets with them. Something else that seems to work is boric acid. You want to mix this with equal parts of sugar with slightly more emphasis on the sugar part of it. The sugar attracts them. They love sugar, but the boric acid eats up the roach's stomach. Make sure it is the real boric acid that you're buying not a mix of boric acid and anything else. You line walls and the inside of cabinets with this and wait. Bay leaves drive them away. Boric acid and sugar will kill them because of their love for sugar. If you live in apartment you want to take some kind of caulk and fill up any gaps in the walls to block insects (mainly roaches) from entry to your kitchen which is basically were roaches like to start."

Here is another...
"Baking soda and powdered sugar mixed in equal parts is a good roach killer. Just spread around the area where you see roaches and soon you won't see them anymore. Boric Acid, while slightly more toxic, is naturally occurring and is another way to get rid of them."

Good Luck and Best Wishes...

Here's an interesting fact: The US did tests in the fifties with nuclear weapons, evacuating and then nuking an entire island in the south Pacific. Everything died on the island, except rats and roaches.

How do you get rid of roaches? If nukes don't work I don't know what will, but the next best thing is an exterminator. I think you need to call one, and as soon as possible. The traps and sprays work with small infestations, but it sounds like you have something more than that. I know it's a lot of cash, but if it works it's worth it! Good luck!

I was a pest controller once. Specialized in roaches. Just spraying around is the worst you can do. It drives them deeper into the structure. You gotta learn to think of your place inside out. Forget what you see right off, think about the cracks, the holes, the tiny little places off in the dark.

They hide out under the sink along the pipes where they go into the wall, and in the wall. In the refrigerator motor. Behind and in, that's right, in the stove. Sinks in the bathroom and the wall the pipes go into. In and around electronics. Book bindings. A million unthought of places.

Best thing is those "roach motels." They visit them and drag the stuff back to their hangout and poison those who didn't go. Put plenty of them under sinks, behind refrigerators, behind and under stoves, in closet corners and shelves, kitchen shelves, etc. Takes a while, but they work well. And smash every one you see as well.

I put a plain donut in the middle of the house and sprinkled it with roach powder and the roaches thought it was a powdered donut and all died.

Spray all of your baseboards and corners with raid MAX. After that, wipe your surfaces with Clorox once a month.

I see MAYBE one roach a month.

I don't use the motels because I don't want to attract them.

I find that setting the house on fire does the trick. If however you can not afford to do that then get rid of any extra paper ( magazines, books, etc) then clean the house with vinegar and spray raid on all the hard to get spot.

If you are living an an apartment, then complain to management. If your apartment is clean, then they are coming from your neighbors. Management can work with an exterminator to bomb the whole building.

However, if you are management, i.e. own your own home, it might pay you in the long run to contact an exterminator for help. D.I.Y can not only be expensive, but also somewhat deadly, if you have problems following instructions.
