It's human nature/instinct to feel threatened by unusual behaviour. In fact any other species of animal would probably react the same way.

It's a self-preservation drive. When someone in your vicinity starts behaving unpredictably, then by definition you cannot predict whether or not that person will constitute a threat to you. So, you back away if possible. If not, you feel damned uncomfortable and start looking for additional information of some kind - such as the presence of a guardian, the nonchalance of other passengers who might be familiar with his/her behaviour, the remaining time to your destination, how close you are to the door, whether or not the person's behaviour includes rapid movements of hands/arms/legs, whether or not the person is holding anything that might be used as a weapon, eye contact with other passengers who share your feelings, what the person is saying, and so on. How you interpret that information may reassure you; or, it may provide stronger motivation to get the hell out of there!

well, on the bus, for the most part, people dont talk to each other too much anyway. so, the same goes for everyone, mentally ill or not. You dont throw yourself at everyone else on the bus, so why should you to a mentally ill person. mind your buisness, stare out the window, think about what a nice day it is, or if you want to be deep, be grateful that you've been born with full mental capabilities and say a small prayer to what ever higher power you believe in that you're made the way you are.
if you are forced to interact with someone who is mentally ill, then treat them with respect, with kindness, and treat them like the human being they are. Sure, you may be forced to speak a little more slowly, or put up with some idiosyncracies or touch a door four times in a row, or go with them to wash their hands every ten minuted, but sometimes you have to do things like that. It's better then acting like the 6 out of 10 people who act like they're dirt or not there, right?

Unless they say something directly to you and expect an answer, just do your thing and try not to be staring at them. People who talk to themselves are often so removed from reality that they aren't paying attention the people around them anyway.

Just politely do whatever you would otherwise do (look out a window, look around the bus, etc) and don't worry about them. If someone who talks to himself directly says something to you if its a question answer it politely. If its an insult ignore it.

I honestly find it sad when I see someone talking to himself. I wouldn't show that on the outside, but I try to respect this other human being and not focus a whole lot on his problem.

I try to act as I would if I saw a person with a broken leg - Notice the person the normal amount that you would notice another human within view (because you don't want to pretend not to see the person, which makes it seem like they're too horrible to acknowledge seeing), but move on to look at other people and stuff

you be conscious of... i think of that maximum, no longer all yet maximum folk whilst no longer pushed right into a corner will, can and do comprehend that they might have psychological subjects, some who unquestionably seek for help on their very own. Then there are the those that come to realize with the aid of human beings specially kin or a minimum of spark a theory. no one likes to learn or admit that they are ill or mentally ill on one hand yet on the different....maximum everyone that has any self know needs to self develop and that's what that's all approximately, self progression so as that top feels greater proper approximately themselves. it somewhat is been my experience that no one needs to be out-casted from society and the belief-approximately being mentally ill generally comes whilst a similar ingredient retains happening to somebody without rime or reason. Being insane is diverse than being mentally ill. the genuine definition of being insane is.... doing a similar ingredient returned and returned and watching for diverse outcomes. nutrition for theory? solid success

I just try to be nice to the person. It's a little weird but they have feelings just like everybody else. I would hate to see what would happen if I offended and they decided to blow me away. You never really know what the person may be capable of doing ( if the mental illness is diagnosised as really bad)

Definitely its a psychological problem, hey all viewers never make a fun on them, and the basic remedy is just try to pretend that you were listening but don' t involve with them, just shake your head in the favor of their conversation, actually most of the time they were talking about their mishaps, once they got a little attentions they stop.that's the only way as with all bad habits if some thing wrong at least look at them that they are doing wrong,.,.,.,{*~^},.,

I work with people who have diminished mental capacity and I still have to admit I sometimes am weary of them. I guess we are always a little cautious of somethings
