My son and I watched in disbelief as a man with a skullcap on got out his car, took one last puff of his cig and threw it down on the ground before entering the mart.
This was at a......gas station.
What's wrong with this picture?

I guess.....well, I just always thought you weren't supposed to even smoke near the gasoline lol

Some people are just plain stupid. This reminds me of the time the gas tank was leaking on our '66 Chevy Van. We were in the parking lot after a Grateful Dead concert and some idiot thought the leak was interesting and decided to flick his bic near it. Fortunately (ha ha) there was a cop standing right there that took care of getting that idiot away from our van.

No, you're not being wrongly judgemental in this situation. The man's behaviour is clearly selfish and foolish.
It is dangerous to smoke in a gas station and it may well be against the law for him to have dropped the cigarette on the ground (littering).
I've seen a lot of similar behaviour; people who likely would reject the idea that they are addicts, yet engaging in behaviour that suggests addiction, if not to smoking then to self-centred behaviour.
We need to pray for and try to help such people (even if only to ensure that they're held responsible for their actions).

Watch mythbusters....as long as the gas is free to breathe and out in the open a cigerette will not catch on fire. On that show they had gas in a bucket in the parking lot and took turns throwing lit cigerettes into it, nothing happened.

omg...was it like the pumps were like at the friggin door? There are usually at a safe distance away from the doors. People do the darnest things really, and others really have a hard time with reality.

He has no regard for other people's saftey. That was very careless and stupid might I add. Thank God you are alive and not on the 8 o'clock news.

Well it is stupid but when he explodes I'm sure he will figure it out :) It is very unlikely that anything would actually explode but it does seem quite careless. And littering is always bad.

This was awfully stupid. I do not care what mythbusters declares on the program. It is endangering everyone's lives. Cigarette smokers just do not care whose lives they endanger or destroy.
