I had an infestation of some small, white worms in my fish tank that lived on the walls and in the gravel. I have no idea what they are, but I know this; they survived being in bleach when I tried to kill them! Also, they killed 2 sucker fish (big ones) in a week by eating their insides (I think).

I want to know what they are incase they come back again and most importantly how to kill them permanently.

Were they little white worms about as thin as a line of thread?

If so, they're harmless themselves, but sometimes they are a indication of a problem with your tank. - I read that somewhere.

Just siphon them up with the yucky stuff on the bottom of your tank. You do know how to siphon right? You don't have to use your mouth, some ppl think you do, but I have a much simpler way.
----It envolves dunking the tube it the water.
Any clean clear plastic tube will do, but you can buy them at the fish store.
You dunk the whole thing in the water, cover one end with your thumb, (have the bucket lower to the ground, than the tank.)
The end with your thumb goes over into the bucket, the water from the tank will flow up the tube and down into the bucket. Vacuum the rocks. <*)))><

Is it a saltwater tank?

If so, they are harmless. They are called Serpulid polychaete, or Spirorbid worms. Were they coiled? if so, then they are Spirorbid worms. Both are not harmful. would'nt worry about it
