~Just smile and say hi to people. If you do that they will see that you are friendly and want to talk to you. Try to sit in the middle of the classrooms so that someone will HAVE to sit near you either to the side, in front of you or behind you, then strike up a conversation with them. It will be easier than you think. Back in high school people were always eager to meet the new kid, a new face always stood out even on the first day back.
Also joining a club or organization that interests you is a good idea. Getting to know people with the same interests makes bonding easy. Theatre people are EXTREEMLY welcoming! try out for the school play or a show done with a local community theatre group.
Good Luck! You'll do great

I'm from Oklahoma but I hear people in Texas are nice too, I think your going to find the people you meet in Texas are going to be more willing to make new friends than you think, we southerners just love to talk and talking to strangers is our forte, remember Will Rogers "Never met a man I didn't like" it's true of Texans as well...Try saying "damn it's hot!" and your new friend will tell you that "you ain't seen nothin' yet, Wait til the sun gets up" You'll be fine, Have fun and be careful.

Welcome to Texas.Be yourself, smile, make eye contact.Everyone doesn't like everyone so when you see someone you'd like to meet nicely introduce yourself and start telling them your new to town and ask what are some fun things to do.That will break the ice.Good luck from a Texan, most of us are nice and dont bite
