When I took Literature class in HS, Iearned on of the most valuable lessons ever. Books can rarely be described as "suking."
The ending may be disappointing. The style of writing may not agree with your sensibility. Most likely in this case, the archaic style does not translate well to a contemporary audience.
But it does not "suck." You clearly do get the point of the work, as you understand that it is "uniquely written." As you say, however, you did not get the "deeper meaning," possible because you have not had the required exposure to other works from the same timeframe.

It is one of my favorite books. The beginning is a little hard to get through, but a necessary component of the story. A most excellent read.

I found it interesting because of the censorship scandal it produced when it was first released, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorite books. I suppose I just didn't like Lady Chatterley and was rather disappointed in the end.
