I have ripped carpet up and have found 3 layers of linoleum flooring. I am having problems removing the laminate. I am wanting to get this done asap so I can lay ceramic tile

It's probably going to be a lot of work -- you may just want to cover it instead. My mom likes to use a blowtorch. Can't say I recommend the idea, but a hairdryer could work. Here's a link to some good information.

You can rent a tool for this or use a floor scraper. Any rental company or large hardware store has these. You can also lay thin plywood on top of the linoleum and lay the tile on top of that. The bad thing is it will make the tile higher. By the way my wife calls my dogs Pookies.

One thing to keep in mind while removing the old floor covering is that asbestos was used in linoleum up until the mid eighties. Asbestos is a carsinogen and causes lung cancer such as mesothelioma

get a SHARP utility blade and cut from corner to corner in a (X)
get a scrapping pole( it looks like a hoe that's unbent)
start in the center of the (X) peel it up and have someone to pull keeping tension on it as you scrape into it with the Scraper its a slow proses but its about the only way because it probably old

Rent a tile chipper ( electric ) appr. $50. per day will
be able to strip the floor in a few hours....

We own a roofing and remodeling company and i have done this so many times...go barrow a roofing spade.roofers shovel.not a regular shovel will be a waste of time .then start prying it up it wont take long at all this way...a roofing spade has a flate edge and teeth to grasp the nails...if you dont do it then your wasting time on other products...

Check your local rental store or ask friends for a HARD CORE scraper on a handle, that you can stand and put your body weight into.

wide chisel and hammer . . . break up the tile in a spot so you can get to the subflooring then start chiseling it up in pieces . . if you lucky, it will pull up in big pieces . . . good luck
