I have the worst case of insomnia I ever heard of. It's been going on for a couple years, now, but lately it's been getting worse (the basic cause is Clinical Depression, for which I'm being treated).

The question is: is it safe to take two Somniex, instead of the recommended one? One does absolutely nothing at all.

I'd kill for a good night's sleep.

I would say no. Talk to your doctor about getting a new prescription, something to take that's stronger or just something that's different that might work. If your taking any pills for depression then definafatly no cause you don't want to OD. Just talk to your doctor about trying something different.

Ok - you admit your being treated for depression, are you aware
there are drugs, when added to those for the depression, that
can actually put you to sleep? I myself, am also being treated
for depression, I take: Vistaril, Klonopin, Serequil, Remeron,
Cymbalta, & Dalmane (a sleeping pill) I can't sleep with just the
dalmane - I take these 6 pills in combination so I can sleep. It's
the anxiety & depression that is making you have the insomnia -
I would talk to your Dr. and see if he can do something for you.
Believe me, I would go for days and not sleep - I see where you
are coming from....

I have chonic insomnia myself and understand what you are going thru.

Perhaps you should talk to your doctor of Pharmacist.

Somneix does absolutly nothing for me, but Ambien works nicely. Problem is Ambien your body get's used quite quickly. Whilst I was in living in New Zealand they gave me (what is called here in america) Lunesta.. That actually worked well too, except for a nasty taste it gives you.

If you are really wanting Somniex either check www.webmd.com or call wallgreens and ask the pharmicist (i've done that more than once :) )

Good luck and God bless, Hope you sleeping improves. :)

I feel for you. I get insomnia off and on (usually go about 3 days then crash the fourth), but I haven't been able to sleep all week long. But I wouldn't take more than the reccomended dosage without a doctor's permission. They set that stuff for a reason and it could make you very sick.

The most you should have is 50 mg at bedtime. That is all i will say about it. But, you should REALLY ask your doctor! Ps. sominex is actually another name for benedryl.
