The reverse apply piston seal is probably bad.
You will most likely need to have the trans rebuilt.

If you have 1st but not reverse, chances are that you have a stuck valve in the valve body. 1st and reverse use the same clutch pack. Good luck...125C is VERY durable. Easy to find parts or replacement at a junk yard. Good luck.

I saw that happen to an old Toyota-- I think it was a 1971 model . Problem was solved when the fluid was changed , No no it was just the opposite! ---it had all forwards , but no reverse. The guy with the reverse valve piston probably has this one. Good luck!
Oh, GatorBait seems confused.

I've always heard
Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right.
Add to that
Three Rights make a Left.
You need to remember
Three Rights and a Left will get you back facing
the direction you just left.
Hence, REVERSE!
Don't say I never gave you nothing!

I'm not the greatest mechanic, but if it's automatic I think you're out of luck. If it's standard it might be just linkage popped loose.
