The absolute best thing you can do is sincerely apologize for your mistake, explain what action you have in place to make sure it never happens again, and what you have done to correct the error. You'll be surpised how quickly you'll get over it once you fess up to it 100%.
THEN take a nice bubble bath, indulge in your de-sensitizing substance of choice, and get a good night's sleep. Everything will look better in the morning!

I like listening to some smooth jazz music, and let all the troubles just fall away. Head outside, enjoy the fresh air. You need to just push that junk out of your head by filling yourself with relaxing thoughts.
Most importantly after making mistakes:
Remember, what's done is done, you can't change it anymore, look to the future and how you can learn from it. Tomorrow is another day.

Fill your tub up with hot water.... may be some bubbles too...
Light a few vanilla scented candles ( or whatever aroma you like )
Turn on your fav mellow music....
close the door, shut off the phone....
Get in the tub....close your eyes... and just chillllllllll out!

s&%t happens just forget about it put on some music take a long bubble bath....or think bout the thing you love the most and do it, or invite a friend over and laugh about your mistake.
