You poor thing! She is busy but you already know that! I would put up a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. She should only be allowed to go up the stairs when you can supervise. To not let her learn isn't the answer. Make time to let her explore as you go along with her.
Even at 8 months, you need to be firm about commands from you. Do not yell. Just keep telling her she must go to daddy. Pick her up, turn her around, set her in the right direction and expect her to comply. It is a game for her but if you do not start setting rules now, she will be a real handful in a few months. Remember, you are the one that knows what is best for her. To be firm with her is showing her you love her.

Baby gates! They are worth every penny. You can block the stairs off from her crawling up them or down them if your bedrooms are on the second floor. Walking at age 8 months is rather young but wtg baby.
Baby gates will also allow you to rest at ease knowing she won't fall down the stairs. 20 steps is a long ways down for an 8 month old.
Good luck and God Bless.

Yeah, crawling up stairs = losing balance and falling down stairs. Get a gate unless you want to find out what toddler caskets cost.

Your baby shouldnt have the run of the stairs until she is a brilliant walker. 20 steps is a big fall for a little one. I would put a baby gate up so she doesnt have access to the stairs.

Please get a safety gate for the top and the bottom of the stairs. There are many kinds in different price ranges. Just make sure you get one approved for this use. It may be an inconvience for you at first but your baby will be much safer and you won't be chasing her up and down the stairs all day.

Yeah you need to get a baby gate to keep her off the stairs. When my son was 2 he rode his play car down the stairs. I cannot even describe the fear that went through me. I don't want you feeling that. Get a gate ASAP

My 8 month old does the same thing-I have gates on the bottoms of each staircase and I watch her all the time. I also bought a playyard from One Step Ahead which gives her plenty of crawling and standing room and allows me to leave for two seconds to go to the bathroom!

Get a gate before you are rushing your baby to the hospital, she still has a soft spot and it can be dangerious if she hits it or a toy hits it on the way down.
While we are telling ages... :-) I am 20 (turning 21 in September) and I have a 19 month old and trying for #2 (and last)!

Baby gates...... they are life savers. Use them at the bottom or top of the stairs depending on where you are. They are also good for keeping little ones out of areas you do not want toddlers to go in. Congratulations!
