first off, you need two. they need the companionship. thats $200 right there. You need a big multilevel cage( you can NOT keep ferrets in a small cage) thats another $200. You need a litter pan, food dishes, multiple beds, a BIG water bottle, toys, an animal toothbrush( no I am NOT kidding, they really need one), a cat carrier to transport them in, and nail clippers. thats another $100. then you need food, litter, Furovite, Biodor, styptic powder, Furotone, animal toothpaste, ear cleaner, and treats. thats another indefinate amount of money. You also want to have harnesses and leashes for safety reasons when they are outside. they cost another $20. You need to pay for many supplies to ferret proof your house. Finaly in the event that your ferrets get sick or have an emergency, you need money set aside to help them. All said and done, they are not cheap pets. The ferrets, cage, supplies, and startup can cost over $500. I love mine though. I have a two ferrets that are sister and brother, Keawea and Rascal, and they are so loveable and funny that they are worth every penny. As far as guinea pig biting goes, they usually dont bite very often, but everything that has teeth can, and will bite if they feel threatened.

What do you mean about handling? Ferrets are very tame so it's easy to handle them.
