Jeez, I should know this...my road map is in the car, which is in the shop...

I think Route 1 is really the most direct route, but there's 1, and then there's 1A. I THINK 1A hugs the coast whereas 1 is more of a main road, and faster. So it depends on whether you want the more scenic route. Sorry, can't tell you how much longer.

Best advice: ask a local geezer, or pick up your own road map.
