I am curious as to why people reject the idea that we live within an eco-system which we need to protect if we are to survive.

Why are people against conserving water, or using renewable resources over non-renewable?

I am not asking this as some judgemental activist, I have been raised in Australia where conserving water is not a choice - towns here have literally had to truck water in for years!

I don't understand why some people get angry if you suggest that we should cut back on our use of resources, especially when it won't really affect our lives to do so.

Thanks!

Laziness. Plain and simple. I'm from the U.S. we know all about laziness. And self importance. That is why we will line up in cars and complain about the traffic, the price of gas and lack of family time. We don't want to have actual communication with a person. Then we would have to care about them. And, we all know that is a waste of time. By the way tell your fellow Aussies that my co-worker had a fabulous time. She said she wished she could stay there. Y'all were very friendly. When she flew into L.A., she just noticed how rude her fellow Americans were.

We've been too lazy, we've taken water and the environment for granted.
I think people are against conserving because it would take some effort and people are basically lazy.

Because until something like that happens, we take it for granted.
