I'm 21 and my cycles have been irregular since I stopped taking my birth control almost a year ago. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for months, but with no results. My cycles have ranged from 33 to 41 days within the last 6 months. This cycle, I am now on day 56. Even though my cycles are naturally irregular, how long of a cycle would be considered normal at this point? Is pregnancy a possibility? Usually I have severe bloating and cramping up to a week before my period is to start, but so far have had none of that. I feel completely fine with the exception of having soft stools. I've been to my doctor several times but he's found nothing out of the ordinary. I've been trying for so long to get pregnant that I'm afraid to get my hopes up yet. For those out there with irregular cycles, do you sometimes have severly longer cycles? Any advice would be extremely helpful with this.

I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and I have long cycles, or at least I have since stopping birth control 2 years ago. I range from 38-45 days. 45 days is the longest I have had, but I was doing 38 days like clockwork and then all of a sudden it went to 45 days. If you're now on day 56 I would either take a test or call your doctor. They can give you something to induce your period if you are not pregnant. I know how frustrating this is.

Take a pregnancy test and if it is - have your doctor run some blood tests. An irregular period usually means that you may have low hormones, and sometimes the your Progesterone is too low it can cause a miscarriage if you do get pregnant.

not sure about the irregular cycles - I am so regular you can set your clock by me - I would say though that once you get the darn thing count it out - ovulation is usually 7-10 days after your period starts so do it , do it, do it during that time and I would figure that would be your best bet - good luck -
