I use to be a professional cake decorator for my first job right after high school and I just got married a couple years ago. For the early fall, I would go with dark red and dark purple. Those are the colors I had for my wedding cake that I decorated. To sell on the GE floor I would also do up a few quarter sheets with those colors for fall. They were beautiful together. Everyone complimented and said they would never of thought to put those colors together. But they both have to be the same dark shade. I have a few years of experience to back me up.
