Do you believe in astrology? Even at its strongest, destiny or fate or any of that synmbolism has a very light hand. It can only suggest. We are only subject to it if we believe. Like the hoodooists of the American South and their African derived folk magic. A lot of that is based on belief and suggestion, our own minds can do a lot.

I am a professionally-certified astrologer with over 40 years of working with couples (retired now). While it is true that there is lots written about zodiac sign compatibility ... it is written to make money, not to give accurate information. The truth is that real astrologers do NOT compare zodiac signs to determine compatibility. What the DO, is to calculate timed birth charts for both individuals, and then look to see what specific distances there might be between any of Person #1's 10 planets and Ascendant, and any of Person #2's 10 planets and Ascendant. Specific distances only ... called "aspects". One Scorpio (Sun in Scorpio) and one Gemini (Sun in Gemini) might get along great .. because most of the aspects between their two charts are harmonious. That same Scorpio and a different Gemini might be a disaster together. I have Sun in Gemini. I was married for 15 years to a man with Sun in Scorpio. His Sun was 2 degrees from my Ascendant (a conjunct aspect). He had 3 Libra planets than made trine aspects to my Gemini planets. In many ways it was a wonderful interaction and a good marriage ... but he had a hard time staying faithful (although he was faithful for the middle 10-years of our marriage), and I got tired of his problem. According to everything I've read about sign matches, Scorpios and Geminis are the absolute worst for each other.
I'm a Scorpio though, and my past relationship with a Gemini is probably clouding my judgment.
Take the horoscope stuff with a grain of salt.

You must look to the whole chart to see what type of people you are attracted to not just your own sun sign and the other person's sun sign.

What aspects do your Sun, Moon and Ascendent make?

The 1st house is you, your personality and appearance..
The 5th house rules love affairs.
The 7th house rules partnerships.
The 8th house rules sexuality.

What planets are in the above houses and what aspects do they make? What signs are those planets in? What sign is on the cusp of those houses? What elements (fire, earth, air & water) and qualities (cardinal, fixed & mutuable) are involved?

For a female's chart you can look to the Sun and Mars and their aspects for what types of males they are attracted to.

For a male's chart you and look to the Moon and Venus and their aspects for what types of females they are attracted to.

Any sign can be with any other sign. It all depends on your whole chart, based on your DATE, PLACE, EXACT TIME of birth, not just your Sun signs.

Your whole chart then is then compared to the other person's whole chart using a technique called Synastry.

The aspects between each other's planets and points must be looked at and interpreted. The planets in each others houses must be looked at and interpreted, both ways. Affinities must be looked for. It's not simple to a layperson, but it is to people who are educated in Astrology terminology.

Sun sign horoscopes are absolutely inaccurate to determine compatibility between two people.

well..my sis is a gemini..we get along...every once in a while..but no..she is too..full of herself..so blah..

No, it's OK.. you can make it work.

Anyway, its a good combination not being exactly the same.. you can learn from each other.
