To me it seems that many problems we have in this country are at least contributed to by so many people who insist on not using English. I think we must for our own safety send back all those illegals who don't speak English well enough to pass the test of English as a second language. Let the others stay as they can be held accountable for whatever hazards they create. Since we can't seem to keep illegals from coming in to begin with let's at least force them to learn to speak English adequately before we stop sending them as far away as we can manage. Money now spent on accomodating these Spanish speaking holdouts can be spent to improve the quality of life for everyone willing to learn to speak our common language.

Are language is now officially English. So if you live here you should speak it or atleast learn. We shouldnt have to have signs in spanish to accomadate those who dont want to learn our language. Screw them. Welcome to America. I think all illegals should be sent back also. The term illegal just seems to go right over some peoples heads. I dont see why. ILLEGAL look it up in the dictionary.
And lastly, i hate when i call someplace and i have to press 1 for English. That is so ridiculous. Yea its only an extra second to push the button but still a very uneccessary step. Stop the madness. If they cant speak English get to studying.

First of all I don't think all illegals should be sent back but they should all be screened to see if they are contributing to society in any way. Those who are should be given workers permits and a limit of one or two years to become legal without repercussions. After that send them back where they came from. The people coming across illegally should be sent back and told to apply illegally. A think adding more security at the boarder would help alot too.
As for the language, I really think they should learn English. If you moved to Germany for many years would you not learn German? The government could help by offering free English courses.

If we stopped being so accommodating, people would learn English. If there is nothing written in Spanish, they would have to learn. Every other culture that comes here learns to speak English because they don't have a choice, there isn't anything written in their language for them to get around learning to speak English. Take the "choice" away.

now really jenny is your life disrupted because of someone not knowing the English language? you would flee to a country that offers you some hope as they have. you are probably referring to Mexicans. they seem to be hard working and family orientated. Many nations on earth have multiple languages spoken within their borders.,they survive it.

Why don't we all learn a second language? The rest of the world is doing it, so why are we so hesitant? It's not like it would kill us or be boring, learning another language is fun!

well we sit back in our air conditioned home/jobs and relax, and let them go and pick/harvest all of fruits and vegetables, tend to the farm/dairies. Then you get up and jump into you car with a/c and go to the market and buy the food that they have picked for you.
