Once you realize you have issues, how do you get past them? Issues like commitment, trust, etc. I want to know how to get back to good. I don't want my past to negatively affect my future any more than is really necessary. What can I do?

Wow! Tough question. Everyone of us has issues. Counseling is the best way to learn about them, and resolve them. Drugs, in any form, or for any reason, including therapy, are not always the best way to go.

Ask yourself, why did they do this, or is this really that important... if not let it go. You can't be responsible for other's actions, only yours.

And I don't say this to be negative. No one thing, or any one person is that important. When you understand this, you're on the way to being better. It helps create humility, tames the ego, and can lead to a greater respect of yourself and everyone around you.

The future is very fluid. So may roads and twists and turns to take. Learn from the mistakes. Dust yourself off and get up and keep going. Be grateful for your victories, but don't gloat over them. The next day, you could be down again....

I can say this because I'm over 50, and it has taken me many years to learn this. Take one step at a time, one foot in front of the other, and keep your eye on the prize.

Put your future into your past. All here now sense experience is really future oriented. Understand your past. What are you saying here, 'commitment', 'trust'....Do you think there is a way to abandon self defense, to forever negate the possibility of danger, of powerlessness. What is needed is what is needed. If you know your humanity then you have the basis of understanding the needs of others. You want to know how to get forward to good, so move forward, learn. Othewise it's a BS question.

Bad memories from the past should be thrown away but some good should be lasting. Don't be affected by your past. Just move on and expect only little for you to be satisfied easily. When you're there, do what is best for you.

Therapy is good. You have to make a conscientious effort to not let the basis of the past hurt your relationships. Nice and Slow is always good. Open communication....

Get feeback from other people like how they feel about certain things and try to change. Just be outgoing and open and people will start to notice you're a nice person and you mean well after all.
