....would it be best done Animated or Live Action? & Who would be best cast for each role? I know that question is a bit subjective, as each person that reads the books will probably get a different picture of the characters. I'm just curious as to how people would see the likes of Roland, Eddie, Susannah, Jake (& Oy) on the big screen. Thankee Sai, long days and pleasant nights!

It would be best as a high budget live action with CGI on HBO (Series). This is just wishful thinking I know.
Roland - Gary Sinise (or Clint Eastwood from the 80's)
Eddie - Johnny Depp (or Tom Cruise from the late 80's)
Suze - Halle Berry
Jake - any child actor.

Live action and CGI. Roland of Gilead son of Stephen could be played by someone like Eastwood.

It is actually hard to pick actors, having read all seven books I know what I want them to look like, but don't think a movie should ever be made. I don't think that any actors could portray these characters and do them justice.

I think it would probaly be better as live action, but not as a movie. If it was done it would have to be a tv series.
I couldn't think of any actors to play the roles. It would probaly be best to get a bunch of unknown actors/actresses, that fit the character descriptions. Kinda like they did with Harry Potter.
But I was told that he said he would not ever sell the movie rights.

I would think that a single movie could never do the series justice!
Perhaps a mini-series or even a full series, preferably live action with CGI would do the best in capturing it.
As for Roland, Clint Eastwood (for obvious reasons)
As for the others, dunno. You wouldn't really want known actors playing the roles as you'd recognise them and wouldn't be able to place them in only that role.
If you ever saw either of the 'The Stand' mini-series you would know what I mean about not doing it justice.

Neither. Any type of movie would not do the books justice.
