You could go buy windows XP, or whichever one you want, and spend lots of money. Or, you could do what most people do and download it from a shareware site, save it to a disk, reformat your computer and put the new one in! Good luck!

Windows 98 does not have updates anymore. i know what you are truely after and it is illegal to obtain any key without purchasing it first. I should report you Microsoft and all other authorities. But i am in a good mood so i will give you a chance to run. But be carefull to make sure your not on when i am not. If i catch you here i will report you. This is your only warning. I am tired of you people thinking you can bypass purchasing.

This will update you with all the updates for Win98 ( It is 102 MB File). But if you are wanting to upgrade your OS, then you will have to purchase that or even cheaper nowadays buy a new computer with it pre-installed.. Good Luck

Guys and Girls from what I hear Windows Updates no longer support Win98 or Me. This link is the last Dinosaur Available, get while the getting is good. :-)

You have to buy Windows XP (the most recent operating system). Be sure your computer has enough memory for it. Most Windows 98 machines cannot take the upgrade without more memory installed too. It may make more sense to get a new machine.

Purchase WINDOWS XP Pro from
http://www.directron.com
or
http://www.newegg.com

say your data to a DVD disk.

Put the new Windows Disk into the computer and let it install the New Operating system.

You do not want to but an Upgrade disk. It cost a lot more than the new operating system disk!

I wouldn't if I were you. If your system has windows 98 on it, it is probably so old that it can't support Windows XP... Buy a new one if you can... Or used, but no older than 2 years old. People who like to stay on the cutting edge often dump their systems for fairly cheap... It's called 'riding the wake'.

Good Luck!

Go to Windows Update, and you can still update critical updates for 98SE, not 98. You must have IE6 or above to do so. You have to find the link, I think it's in 'Microsoft Family' or something like that. It's not like it used to be.

You need to purchase a copy of Windows XP and then put the CD in and follow the instructions. I would back up everything you don't want to lose before doing this.
