Can fishnet stockings or similar stockings be worn in a way that they don't look trashy?

I love them but how do I wear them so they look stylish?

When you see fishnets in the fashion magazines theyre
-non-black
-worn to sauce up a dowdy outfit, like a 40's/50's modest, cover-everything style dress
-small gauge (small net hole size)

I think they're cute peeking out from where calf high boots meet a pencil skirt/ dress. If you're concerned and haven't made the purchase yet, current fashion trends are heading toward patterned woven fishnets and opaque tights/stockings anyway. Both of those options are alot less tawdry.

If the rest of your outfit isn't too revealing...it really should look fine. Also my friend used to wear them over a pair of tight pants. She wore light light blue tight pants with fishnets over them...with a black skirt and a shirt matching the tight pants...it was actually cute. so just pair it with an outfit that works. Or whatever you think looks good. If you think you look good then it shouldn't matter what everyone else thinks.

they can be pulled off, but it's hard. you have to:
1. not wear them with something slutty, like a teensy mini or a slip dress or something.
2. get small fishnet, not those with the huge holes that make the skin poke out.
3. don't wear tacky heels with them.
4. don't get them in colors like red or pink. eww.
i've seen a lot of classy people wear fishnets, but you have to wear them with the right things.

well i like to get the fishnet leggings
there like capris
and wear them under a high wasited pencil skirt
so they stick out a little
and wear them with the new kinda peep toe sling back pumps

You can wear them with black pencil knee length skirt with some high heel pumps. A-Line skirt will also look cute. Just make sure the skirt is not too short, if you don't want to look trashy.

I've got a really torn-up pair of True Religion jeans, and I like leggings or fishnets underneath them. Keeps it in dress code. :)

I have seen them worn with those black pants that have a short leg length about half way up the calf of the leg and they look good that way, especially with a black pant.

It's all depends on what you wear with them. A short short skirt and chunky boots = skank.
Medium length skirt and nice boots with a pointy toe and a medium heel - sophisticated.

if you avoid mini skirts and thigh high boots! You can pair them with BARELY above the knee skirts ... just have a male friend you can depend on come sit on the couch while you try on various outfits... if he drools, Forget that combo!
