Who else loves school and feels incredibly lucky to be going? We aren't really struggling for money just getting by, we live in a moderate (will be better once I finish school) home drive a nice car, my daughter has everything she could possibly need, we have food in our belly and I get a full Pell grant which I'm so blessed to have. There just is NO excuse for low income people not to go to get an education and better their lifestyles. With all the pell grants and financial aide. Am I right?

Congratulations! I loved going to school and last August received my degree so keep up the good work. I have to beg to differ when you say there is no excuse for low income people not to get an education. Some low income people have deep personal issues that they have to conquer first. Some low income people like a person I know could not attend school because her daughter unfortunately was killed by a family member and it has left a big hole in her heart making her feel depressed and helpless. Some low income people may have started off with their partners but were left with no other choice but to work immediately to make ends meet and tend to their children. Some low income people can't afford to pay the rent and also pay for the extra money it would cost for childcare. Also, there are low income people who were domestically abused and first have to work on getting their self esteem and self worth again or have to move from place to place to keep themselves or their families safe. I am so happy for you and your family and I wish you all the best and know you will have it because of your positive attitude and determination. Thanks for being an inspiration to us all that want to move forward in life.

I agree with you. I'm in my first year of college, majoring in Business. I've always loved studying since I was very little, so I'm extremely happy that I made the decision in attending. A lot of kids' families are low-income, but there are still numerous possibilities to go to college anyways through student loans, grants, and other aids. I intend on working towards at least a Master's degree no matter what, and good luck to those who take pride in being college students and who work hard in achieving the best!!

I agree from the bottom of my heart. My wife and I are doing OK. Like you, we have everything we need and do have enough food to eat. I am going back to college, after almost 20 years, in January 2007. I cannot wait to finish. I am both excited and nervous, but I think I will do fine.

School is indeed a good source for education. In reality though, if one wants to truly learn, they will. Give them a book, and they shall read. Give them the internet, and they shall search. It's all the same. Of course, school does it in an organized way.

You are brilliant and I mean that kindly, the problem is, not everyone is aware of what is available, you helped with your question. Education is a gift that truly keeps on giving. You should be proud of being such a great parent too!

I was lucky to be able to go to college, I believe it was an important life experience for me, and I'm so impressed when parents and other non-traditional-aged-students go back to school. Rock on!

That being said, I wouldn't go back for anything. I'm so glad I'm done!
