Her blood pressure is so bad, she's blown out the blood vessels in her eyes twice in the last year. I think her doctors are quacks, they just keep giving her more pills to take and now she is having kidney problems from all the drugs. I am looking for some natural remedies that might help.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I'm not aware of any good home remedies when treating severe high blood pressure. Prescription drugs work in ways that over the counter medications or herbals cannot - by acting to dilate blood vessels and decrease the load on the heart. Most likely your mom is on several different drugs due to the fact that they all work via different mechanisms (depending on cause - which she may have several causes). If you still feel it's too much - bring that up to her doc. Do keep in mind that her kidney problems and/or failure is most likely due to the high blood pressure and not the medications as the kidneys contain small blood vessels (much like the eyes) that can become faulty with hypertension.

here's a link that talks about some of the different groups of hypertension drugs

That doesn't sound very good.

At first you should change the docs.

If the blood pressure is really as high as you say it your mother needs real good medicine. I worry about that there are no effective natural remedies that could reduce such a high blood pressure.

Your mother needs a cardiologist. There are drugs that are kidney protective.

Potassium, calcium, and magnesium supplements, fiber supplements.
Although eating garlic and onions has been recommended to reduce blood pressure, evidence shows that only very small decreases in blood pressure may result. Fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids) also may have some effect on lowering blood pressure. Also look into DASH diet. Dietary approaches to stopping hypertension.

Aged garlic with cayenne and hawthorn capsules available at health food stores. Also, eliminate ALL SUGAR and ANY SUGAR REPLACEMENTS ( nutrasweet, equal, etc.) from her diet. Cut out coffee and tea and drink only purified or distilled water. (one or two cups of coffee or tea a day is okay). EAT HEALTHY FOOD. NOT TONS OF CARBOHYDRATES. Pick up the book - What To Eat by Luise Light. Good luck sweetie!

The only way to go natural is to remove the un-natural. This may not be safe if your mother needs medication.
I suggest going to a certified licensed Acupuncturist. These professionals can, will and do work with Clients that are on/off medications or on/off Doctor referrals.
